United Sons Of Toil - Goodbye!

One of the most dynamic bands of the last few years
have decided to call it a day. They leave behind a legacy
of post-hardcore wit, aggression, passion and vision.

I for one will sadly miss them - all the best
with whatever you all choose to do in the future.

Farewell

After much thought and many personal struggles, we have decided to put an end to USoT. It is with heavy hearts that we look towards the future without this important part of our lives. USoT was so much more than music and it will be nigh-impossible for us to replace this passion, activism, and community going forward. Thanks everyone.

Final Shows

Friday October 19 @ The Dragonfly with our good friends Knife The Symphony, Nonagon, and Dick The Bruiser.

Saturday October 20 @ Quenchers, Chicago with KtS and Nonagon again.

Discounted Merch

Cleaning out the merchandise. All our physical products (LPs, CDs, T-shirts, and tour posters) are now 20% off on our Bandcamp site. Enter the code “farewell” when you check out.

The Future

Jason and Russell continue to play in Tyranny Is Tyranny and plan on recording in December. (They are also working on a new band with a focus on touring.)

Beef Supreme - S/T EP

Band request from the USA.

Beef Supreme are a trio that have produced groove- ridden
stoner of the most infectious kind. Bouncy riffs that conjure up
AC/DC doing Monster Magnet songs instantly get the head
moving up and down.

Pounding drums and bass power the songs along which thankfully
are not aimless jams but short stompers that leave you wanting more.

Nikki BelGrande provides guitar and vocals and has the perfect
rock voice for these tracks, she is not trying to be heavier than
heavy, just singing with a punky attitude that suits perfectly.

4 songs just ain't enough - come on, give me an albums worth!

Bio: Stoner rock band Beef Supreme hails from the southwest United States. Drawing from influences such as Black Sabbath, The Sword, Queens of the Stone Age and Fireball Ministry, Beef Supreme fuses retro-metal with desert rock. Combining sludgy guitar riffs and heavy drums with melodic vocals and smart songwriting sensibilities, Beef Supreme has crafted a sound that is unique among metal bands today.

However, what really sets Beef Supreme apart from the teeming masses is something not normally associated with stoner metal: their marketing plan. Playing together since 2007, guitarist and vocalist Niki Bel Grande, drummer Lou Chalupa, and bassist Macho Grande are veterans of various local metal scenes and bands. "The standard model for rock bands, what they tell you to do, is play out locally and build a following, and then grow from there," explains Bel Grande. "That's bulls***, that doesn't work anymore. Local scenes are a racket, and regional touring is fun, but it's completely unsustainable from a business point of view." The future, explains Bel Grande, is the internet. Beef Supreme offers free downloads of all of their music, sells merchandise online, and makes use of social media to connect with their fans.

Beef Supreme was produced by Jon Weil at Uranus Recording, in Tempe, Arizona.

Naïve - Illuminatis

Band request from France.

Naïve play prog-metal with flair and taste. Bursts of aggression
are tempered with passages of haunting atmospherics that fill
this album. An almost cinematic feel threads the tracks together
while the metal aspect is kept from being too overpowering
by the presence of restrained vocals - think Lateralus era Tool.

There is an epic sweep to the narrative and like Porcupine Tree
at their best, the use of textures and experimental genre shifting
from metal to prog give you a real sense of listening to something
special.

The occasional electronic flourish gives some trippy moments,
combining well with simple chiming guitar motifs that morph
into chugging riffs that drive the songs into heavier passages.

The overall sound is lush and warm - this may well put some
metal-heads off but will be welcomed by fans of this genre.

Bio: Three persons. Three tormented souls. Three happy souls. Three desperate souls. Violence and combat, contemplation and sadness, junction between the ocean and the sky. Mox (Le Minus), Drums and electro, Jouch (Agora Fidelio, Phantom Status) Guitar, Voice and electro, and Rico (ex-Mary Slut) Bass. No limit. From Metal to Synthetic music, from violins to Trip-hop. Melody is a leitmotiv, Rythm is fuel. Let's be Naïve, once.

Three years after its debut full-length record "The end", the trip-hop/metal/rock french crossover from Toulouse Naïve is back with a new album entitled"Illuminatis" and expected this fall. A short video teaser is on YouTube.

"Illuminatis" is available right now for pre-order.

Heemeyer - S/T

Band request from Oklahoma.

Heemeyer are fucking heavy. Thick slabs of sludgy hardcore
pummel you into submission while the angry, pissed off
vocals lay on top of the aggressive music with impressive
results. The song riffs are relentless and bleak, broken up
with some guitar breaks submerged in the sonic stew.

Bio: Our influences: Coalesce, EYEHATEGOD, Deadguy, Cursed, Converge, Botch, Unsane, His Hero Is Gone, Tragedy, Pig Destroyer, Margudergrind, Ed Gein, Graf Orlock.

Our goal is to make music that carries the same weight as the true story of Marvin Heemeyer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Heemeyer

Jeremie White guitar (Operator Dead: Post Abandoned, Happy News Please, CREEPOZOIDZ)
Sam Blue drums (Operator Dead: Post Abandoned, Machinist, CREEPOZOIDZ)
James Plumlee (Bring Down The Hammer, Happy News Please, And There Stand Empires, Friends Of The Apocalypse)
Dustin Cleveland (Friends Of the Apocalypse, Happy News Please)

HEEMEYER formed in the summer of 2011 after Operator Dead: Post Abandoned called it quits

HEEMEYER has opened for Retox, Ringworm, and most recently The Catalyst

The Chewers - Every Drop Disorganized

This is a band request from Travis, who is in The Chewers.

I get quite a lot of submissions, most of them good, some average
and now and then some which are just shit!  Very rarely do I
get to hear a band that defies description - this is one of them.

The Chewers have the basic setup of drums/vocals/guitars and bass
but that is where normality ends. The sound is sparse with almost
minimal arrangements and a grainy primitive feel to things .........
and then the songs start............

Country and western Devo?
Early Beefheart punk blues?
Tom Waits with a one stringed guitar?
The Residents deconstructing rock'n'roll?

All the above applies - if you need a soundtrack to riding a bicycle with
square wheels down the pyramids with your underpants full of hot
weasel sandwiches and clothes made from naked barbie dolls being
chased by greased pigs singing german drinking songs and sporting
wigs made of squids then this is the album for you.

I really like this - give it a go and try something different
from he-men playing loud guitars!

The guys have a new album coming out soon - Chuckle Change And Also -
here are 3 tracks to listen to.

Black Smoke Dragon - Demos

Band request from Spain.

Black Smoke Dragon play instrumental stoner/doom and do not
hide the fact that they worship fully at the altar of the RIFF!
Suitably fat sounding de-tuned tones blast out gnarly tunes
which get me nodding along. Sabbath and Mastodon are the
influences here but they have added their own sonic touch
to make sure that you want to hear more.

They have 2 EPs for free download at Bandcamp which should
keep you going until the 1st album comes out.

Bio:
Black Smoke Dragon is an instrumental spanish band from de northwest of this country (Galicia). We started together at 2009, doing some instrumental jams, with Stoner/Sludge/Doom influences. We love bands like Eye Hate God, Sleep, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, Down, Saint Vitus, Mastodon and Black Sabbath, of course. We have quick songs, slow sounds and later we introduce psychedelic arrangements. Bands like Ghost, Church of Misery, Kylesa,...we love this noise and shit man! Of course, we play on another bands too. Álex is the exdrummer of Oddy Lane (metal/alternative), Lloymi plays guitar on Arsenaut (Rock/Metal) and Drums on ID3M (Metal), Oskar has postrock projects and plays on ID3M too. And Berto plays on ID3M and Arsenaut too. Contact with us at blacksmokedragon@hotmail.com ; http://blacksmokedragon.bandcamp.com/album/demo-12 or www.facebook.com/blacksmokedragon.

The Glad Husbands - God Bless The Stormy Weather

Band request from Italy.

The Glad Husbands have a nice line in noise rock which is
tempered with some math time scales and the ability to know
when to rein back the vocals to provide a contrast within the
songs.

The band have some impressive musical chops but this does not
distract from the almost gleeful bursts of chaotic aggression that
come squirming into your cortex.

Multiple guitar riffs weave effortlessly through the tracks,
veering between delicate beauty or going for the throat. Very
precise interplay between the drums and bass power the jagged
rhythms which dominate this album, giving the listener an
disconcerting sense of unreleased tension.

Give it a listen.

Earthless - Dub remix

Despite the perfection of Sonic Prayer by Earthless, I decided to
increase the enjoyment quota to almost reckless limits!

Taking the classic track "Flower Travelin' Man",
I duplicated the song onto another track but lagged it  behind
by a fraction of a second and then rode the fuck out of the
delay to give you twice as much guitar solo in a reverb
drenched orgy of psyched out bliss.

I spoil you!

Vintage Cucumber - Tom mit de Bon Style

Band request from Germany.

Vintage Cucumber is one mans journey that he describes as
"pure brain fogging". I won't argue with that - electronica
mixed with some guitar normally leaves me cold or just
thinking of The Orb but this had been done very well.

Floating space rock is very much evident here - skillful use
of samples do not intrude upon your voyage into blissed out
listening, the ambient passages blend seamlessly into what seems
to be random noises but which are just the beginning of faster songs.

There is a trippy vibe that ranges from gentle pastoral sounds to
an unhinged "everything-at-once" mosaic of music that ebbs and
flows to take you on a mainly electronic psychedelic journey.
