The Stooges - what could of been.

If the band had not self destructed, I think a fair chunk

of these songs would have appeared on their next album.

All the songs were written and played around or after Raw Power 

came out. It did does not take a leap of imagination to imagine

that they could of been used to produce a 4th album.

Using your google search bar, it is not hard to get these songs together 

using demos, outttakes and live tracks. 

Or maybe not - make your own mind up!

The Stooges - Ungano's 1970

More rare than a message in the comments box,

Stooges recordings from the '69-'70 era seem to

be non-existent or just snippets of songs. This is

the best you are gonna ever get, the Funhouse

album being played in its full glory, feel the

savagery and power as God intended.

While the sound quality is hardly "The Song Remains

The Same", anyone who has any live Stooge stuff

knows how shit most of it sounds and will be mightly

relived to know that although recorded by Danny

Fields on his portable recorder, it still pisses over the

turgid levels of "Metallic KO"!

New Race - The First and The Last (1981)

Wet dream fanboy time for Deniz Tek, from Radio

Birdman.

Radio Birdman were a great Aussie band who

channeled the Detroit proto-punk sound into

high energy, snotty rock'n'roll.

In 1981 he contacted Ron Asheton and Dennis

Thompson to form a one off, live touring band

and this live album is a document from that event.

The set is mainly Radio Birdman songs, with one

original "Columbia" but The Stooges get a look in

with a version of "Loose", the MC5 songs "Gotta

Keep Movin'" and "Looking at You" are thrashed out

and there is also a fantastic version of the Destroy All

Monsters classic "November 22nd, 1963" which is a

revelation with male vocals.

This is fast, raw sweaty stuff.

Well, here we are - 250 posts. What a journey it

has been for us all!

We've cried together when rapidshare lost all the links.

We've high fived together when I realised how long

those you-tube links take to load on.

And how we laughed when Goijira made me take

down the link - and then the picture - and then

I have been saddened to find out that some of

you have looked at other blogs - so much for

being faithfull. Well, if you must know I have

written reviews for other people and I did not

First off - A collection of out-takes that never

made it onto the 1st Stooges album. For the most

part, the songs sound pretty much the same with

some different vocal inflections from Iggy but

the real joy are the extra long guitar solos from the

sadly missed Ron Asheton - Listen

not like The Stooges - get down with the soundtrack

to the John Carpenter film "The Thing" by the oh, so

cool Ennio Morrcione - Listen

This is the Stooges Raw Power set from 2nd May

at the Hammersmith Appollo. Taken from a

soundboard recording and sold on a USB stick,

this is as good as a Stooge recording gets .......

Any doubts that Williamson could recreate his

napalm attack guitar was quickly put to rest

guitar albums ever made and I have posted

this for no other reason that I am seeing the

Stooges tonight playing Raw Power in its

entirety.
